Ukrainian National Committe for CODATA
The main directions of the Ukrainian National Committee's activities are:
- experts participation in formation of the legal foundation for development of information society and information technologies in Ukraine;
- execution of projects intended for development of the information infrastructure and information resources for science and education;
- development of the national Grid-infrastructure and its integration with European Grid;
- organization of the effective system of data collection in the frame of World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development (WDC-Ukraine) including establishment of contractual relationships with the national and world data providers;
- execution of projects including international ones on sustainable development in global and regional context;
- development of the distance learning system and its information resources.
The most significant activities connected with the organization and holding of seminars, trainings, conferences at national and international level, realization of international projects are illustrated.
There are several task groups in the framework of the National Committee:
- Support and development of the Ukrainian Research and Academic Network, headed by Prof. Yuri Yakimenko, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the "URAN" Association
- Scientific Council for World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development headed by Prof. Michael Zgurovsky, Director of the Institute for Apllied System Analysis.
- Group for High performance computing center for computation and data processing, headed by Prof. Anatoly Petrenko.
- Information Technologies in Education, headed by Dr. Inna Malyukova, Director of the Ukrainian Institute for Information Technologies in Education.
- Initiation of improvement and formation of the Ukrainain legislature on development of the information society, headed by Prof. M. Rodionov, Director of the Center of Information Society Development.
